60 Minutes of Propaganda
CBS, which aired the edited version last night, has now granted C-SPAN permission to air the entire 90-or-so-minute segment this evening. Interestingly enough, C-SPAN will first air the edited "60 Minutes" version at 8 p.m., immediately followed by the entire interview. "We agreed with CBS News that airing this interview ... fits with C-SPAN's style of airing events as they happened and without commercials," said Terry Murphy, C-SPAN's vice president of programming. "This is also a unique opportunity for viewers to see for themselves the editorial process at a major network news organization, and find out which portions of an extended interview actually make it on air." (Inside the Beltway)
Mike Wallace's interview was nothing more than a platform for President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's lies and propaganda. He has some nerve criticizing our prisons..........hint: we put the bad guys behind bars - he puts the good guys behind bars.
He has some nerve criticizing our health care system......."Life expectancy in Iran averages 69 years, although the country has a high infant mortality rate. During and after the war with Iraq, many Iranians sought medical care for trauma and stress. Lack of clean water and proper sewage disposal remain ongoing concerns and have caused widespread parasitic and gastrointestinal diseases, the major causes of illness in Iran."
What is up with Ahmadinejad's clothing choice for the interview? I guess he was trying to relate to the average American democratic voter.......after listening to Drudge last night........it's the Joe's in New Jersey that came away feeling that the man was "SWELL". (THEY ACTUALLY FELL FOR THE B.S.) lol
Oh well, I'll watch the C Span version tonite.......then write my letter to CBS and let them know that I think they were used for propaganda purposes. Isn't it time that CBS retired Mike Wallace for good? That was hardly an interview.......it was more like.........SAY WHATEVER YOU WANT AHMADINEJAD..........WE ARE GIVING YOU A WHOLE SEGMENT ON OUR SHOW.......
In an interview by By Suzanne C. Ryan, Globe Staff December 8, 2005 with Mike Wallace
Q. Given the competition today, how do you think ''60 Minutes" is faring?
A. In the '70s, '80s, and '90s, we were always in the top 10. . . . Now, it's different. But I think we've held onto our standards remarkably well, no thanks to me because I don't do the kinds of stuff I used to. *obviously*
Q. How long do you plan to keep working?
A. Until my toes turn up. *are they turning up yet?*
Q. President George W. Bush has declined to be interviewed by you. What would you ask him if you had the chance?
A. What in the world prepared you to be the commander in chief of the largest superpower in the world? In your background, Mr. President, you apparently were incurious. You didn't want to travel. You knew very little about the military. . . . The governor of Texas doesn't have the kind of power that some governors have. . . . Why do you think they nominated you? . . . Do you think that has anything to do with the fact that the country is so [expletive] up *perhaps he should have used this tone with the Iranian*
I guess that says it all............Wallace easy on Iran.......hard on America
