SEND IN THE CLOWNS

(pic from Strange Politics.com)
"I'm proud that Cindy's my guest tonight," Woolsey said in an interview before the speech. "She has made a difference in the debate to bring our troops home from Iraq."
Woolsey offered Sheehan a ticket to the speech _ Gallery 5, seat 7, row A _ earlier Tuesday while Sheehan was attending an "alternative state of the union By LAURIE KELLMAN

What was Representative Woolsey thinking when she invited Cindy Sheehan to the State of the Union Address? Woolsey's judgement can only be described in one word, 'MOCKERY'.

Woolsey's decision to invite Sheehan was just about as thoughtful as the Democratic leader's invite to Michael Moore to sit in their Presidential box at the Democratic Convention.

It is hard for me to believe that there was no one else in Representative Woolsey's district that was far more deserving of that guest pass. I believe Woolsey has slapped her constituency in the face with the Sheehan invite.

The left continue to give seats of honor to those who continually mock the United States. Guilty by association!

You continually confuse criticism of the Bush administration with "mocking the country". I realize it makes you feel like you’re better than others, but it false and misleading. But then, this administration only survives because of that small mindset.

Also, if Rep. Woolsey's constituents are upset with her, let them vote her out. It's that simple. Unless you live there, what do you care? I don't agree with Sen. Byrd being in office as ex-clansmen, but I don't live there, either. I think Frist is a disingenuous opportunist following his “diagnosis” of Terri Shiavo from the floor of the senate, but guess what? I don’t live in his state either, so I’ll let his constituents deal with him.

No, I think a haggard woman wearing improper clothing and causing a disturbance, to a State of the Union Address, is mocking.

Why would anybody, Liberal or Conservative, be dumb enough to wear a frakkin T-SHIRT to the halls of Congress? You gotta look your best if you're going to be mingling among the nation's legislatures.

I suggest you write to Congressman Young from Florida and ask him why he would allow his wife to wear a t-shirt to the Congress, if it offends you so much. She wasn't arrested for it like Cindy Sheehan, though. Apparently there are "free speech zones" which allow for GOP members to wear t-shirts, while any dissenting voice is arrested. Welcome to King George's America. This country is really evolving nicely these days.

I don't think anyone should wear a tee shirt to the State of the Union Address. Ya have to wear a collared shirt just to eat lunch at my club.......surely people should dress appropriately for a State of the Union Address. I'm glad all in tee shirts were asked to leave. republican or democrat

I believe Cindy Sheehan was making verbal noises, which led to the arrest.....and something about having a banner that she was draping over the railing...........

Wrong and wrong. She neither made noises nor had a banner. The only thing she did was forget that she was in the presence of the King, around whom no dissent is tolerated.

Rep. Young is a true American, too. In response to both his wife and Sheehan being ejected from the building, here was his response:

"Young said he wouldn't be so mad if it were just Sheehan. "I totally disagree with everything she stands for," he said. But by removing his wife, Gainer's officers clearly "acted precipitously," Young said.

OK, so speech is only free if you agree with the ruling power. Otherwise, you will be silenced. The fact that this is the argument that folks on the right are making is disturbing to me. This is completely un-American, so why do you defend it so strongly?

I don't agree with Young!

Tee shirts do not belong at a formal event such as a Presidential State of the Union Address.

Just my opinion.

So, in your opinion, wearing a t-shirt should be an arrestable offense? In addition, you feel the law should apply only to people with whom you disagree? Rep. Young's wife was simply asked to leave, but Sheehan had to be handcuffed, booked and fingerprinted. Welcome to the "land of the free".

All hail the king!

Hey there, Mr. Anonymous, if you think you're so bold and everything, why don't you reveal who you are, or are you just like the rest of your liberal/socialist/commie brethern-- scared and full of nothing but sh*t??

frontal cortex: I see you went to the "Maddie School of Blogging", where insults prevail over facts and coherent arguments.

I believe frontal if you read your own comment; you will find that it is you who are full of insults that prevail over facts.

Sheehan is a real pain to America. For a Congresswoman to invite Sheehan to a State of the Union Speech is nothing more than shoving her rants in the face of our President.
There is a time & place for making a political statement, this was not it.
Woolsey should be investigated for being a Rep with no common sense.
And with only having an agenda to harpoon the speech.

frontal said:The entire Congress would be under investigation if a lack of common sense was criminal. Plus, your idea of what or who is a real pain to America is entirely subjective.
