The Big Easy: Just Blame "Brownie" !

If a Disaster is met with 100% success in providing relief, help and aid.........is it a disaster?

The people of New Orleans should take some of the blame. They elected the Mayor and helped to elect the Governor. The people who lived at below sea level did not demand strong levys or actions by their local government to protect them. What surprises me the most is the people didn't even realize how down and out they were until they saw themselves on tv.

Emergency responses are just that emergency repsonses. Unlike you, I do have faith that people involved in rescue, search, recovery, etc., all do it with the intent of doing the best they can. I think we can plan, try to divert and make people aware of the dangerous times we live in. However, I still believe, that ultimately, no matter how much you fund government, who is in charge, there will be mistakes made. Thank God for that, I would hate to think that the government I lived under had the ability and strength to solve all problems and prevent bad things from happening. That to me is a much scarier scenerio. I still prefer the human element in my government.

Way wrong there Open; I was against a lot of the bills that Bush pushed through. I don't think there would ever be one man or woman who could run our country that I would agree with 100%.

I like Bush on integrity, forcefulness, heart, his ability to stand up to terrorists despite public opinion, and his ability to choose, in most cases, effective leaders. I love his sense of humor, and his willingness to try and do what is right.

Now spending......that's where I draw the line with the Presdent. Border control is another area that I have some issues with. However, I don't feel a John Kerry or a Al Gore would of done any better on those issues.

I think Bush has stimulated our economy with the tax cuts. Tax Cuts for ALL people, all Americans, fairly.

As far as spending money wisely and big Government.....I think a lot of those issues can be referred to Congress. Too many people place greater value on voting for the President. They should spend more time researching and electing their local, state, and national reps and senate. These are the people who have the ability to make government big or small, to spend wisely or unwisely.

As far as the Mayor of Louisiana goes, sure I'm sure he helped the best he knew how, but there is a case of someone who was elected to preside over the Big Easy, not a disaster. Katrina revealed a lot about the city that was hidden by the jazz and jambalya.
