History Lesson

Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to "govern" the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America. They crept in after the Wild West was tame and created a business of trying to get MORE for nothing. Here ends today's lesson in world history. (a history lesson by Gary S.)

Well let me add to your history lesson, try mayb learning about the Northeast, also known as New England...it was the puritans that settled the land and I think they would take the cake on being the most conservative. With that being said, let's review what the puritans were mostly known for? Can you think of it? How about the Witch trials...which created the term as "going on a witch hunt" I am not sure if you missed this part, but the conservatives were not willing to accept what was TRUE...witches do not exist and neither should conservatives. In fact I would even say that Jesus was a liberal, he fought for the poor and those in poverty. Meanwhile the republicans are in a hooplaw about abortion and not talking about the economic reasons people choose abortion...And by the way you should stop learning in a narrow hallway otherwise the world thinks you are an idiot, oh by the way the world I referring to are great lands beyond the ocean, from which our ancestors came and they left England cause the King would not accept their religion...now we live in a country where you need religion to talk to the King of the US (aka Bush).

Okay.........
I think you are mixing politics and religion, and the witch hunts were prevelant throughout the world. That is more of world history not US. Thank God, we as a country have grown, and not witches are also free and have rights the same as all citizens. However, if countries like Iraq and Saudi Arabia, you can be killed for being a Christian.

As far as referring to Bush as King? I don't think Kings are elected. Bush was elected by the people of the United States. I guess that is why you are so angry.

One man's anger is another's happiness. Got to love America!

Last I heard, President Bush was still talking to people who believed differently than him. I think Byrd was even quoted as saying how pleased he was that Bush asked his feelings on the Supreme Court nominations. I don't think a King would do this.

Not sure what you meant by me learning in a narrow hallway? Sounds cozy, but no, I have a lot to learn and always keep my mind open. Don't claim to know it all, never have and never will.

I live by my gut, I live by the sparkle in the eye of someone, I hear a sincere voice and know from the heart it is spoken.

I think President Bush is great. Sincere, loving, and a man of great integrity. A human being, not a king, who is trying to do the right thing in this war on terrorism. I believe he loves this country. He is just a human, like you and me, a humble man, not a king.

I must commend you for actually responding...however if you are still willing to learn, might I suggest a good book to read...1984 by George Orwell. I'll agree that in 2004 Bush was elected, however in 2000 I would have to say he got it but was not elected to it. And you may trust a person by the sparkle in the eye, but I am a little more demanding on my levels of trust...I usually trust presidents to use our military forces as a last resort, good example might be FDR (that is Franklin Delanor Roosevelt) or even Wilson. However, as the news comes out and the facts begin to float to the top of the political ocean we are learning that a strike first ask questions late policy does not help the US, or its image in the world. One might even go as far as saying that when Bush uses terms such as "a crusade" are not the best thing to use if you feel "christians" are threatened and I must say those are the words of Bush. Nonetheless the terms are the part that I see the similarities between 1984. Its a good book and well you should take a gander to read it. I'll be happy to suggest other open minded books for you to read. Have a nice day.

I am utterly shocked! To be honest, I am not exactly sure where to start. You feel this is a "holy war" do you understand the repercution of such a statement. I am not a moslem, I was raised catholic, but I don't wear my religion on my sleave, I don't actively recruit people into a religion. If there is one thing that catholicism taught me is that I am not the one to judge others. And I certainly do not judge people of the moslem faith, in fact, they are my friends and we rarely talk religion, because that is personal and private, but we do talk about culture and how culture changes.

I do not fear visiting the middle east because of my personal religious views, but at the moment I do fear being an American, because of Bush and his international policies to promote religion over civility.

You know there was a time after WWII when we did not promote one religion over another and it seems that most people got a long better then they do now. On that note WWII, FDR, who brought great things to our country and we should honor him by furthering his goals. But WWII, we did not enter it because of the extermination, in fact historically no one knew of the terrible extermination camps until well after Pearl Habor. That war was a global fight against facism. Facism refers to the right-wing authoritarian political movement. In fact I think that might be what we are closer in relation.

I guess you believe the rhetoric of the GOP, well I guess that makes sense since that is where I noticed you blog. However, I have to add, that you have not impressed me one bit and quite frankly are only furthering the truth that many people of the republican nature, seem to not realize that there is another world outside of ours that involves living together with different cultures and religion with out war or conflict. By the way you should try reading the bible, cause it has just as harsh statements in it as does the Qua'ran. And just as extreme is one religion so is the other. You would be doing a service to the US if you actually discontinued referencing to this war as a holy war, cause you only help the other side by doing so, now they have more of a reason to recuit. Learn to realize that a little moderation in military and government action is healthier than complete stubbornness, arrogance and ignorance. I hope that the US will be able to one day accept all people of the world and stop inflicting pain uppon those that least diserve it. But I guess that is where we differ, religion is important for those that believe and have faith, but at no point did Jesus ever say fight and kill others, in fact he said the exact opposite, think back to your bible and realize that what Jesus was asking his followers to do was live a life and help those that need in poverty, if we as a nation would do more to help those that have nothing, you might realize that others may not be so hostile to our nation. The USA does not stand for the United States of All Christians...just the united states of america and america represents all religions not one over the other.

Exactly! We do represent all religions, all races and classes. In America, you are free to be who you want, what you want, and can live where you want.

It is this freedom that must be cherished. As you noticed, I have not tried to convert you. I am only speaking my mind on my only little blog. You have the freedom to disagree or agree. You have the freedom to read it or not read it.

I respect how you feel, and I don't think I will ever change your views. I am proud of our Country, and I have friends in Europe, the Middle East, and South Africa, who are proud of our Country too. Europe as a whole does not have a negative view. Just as the Middle East as a whole does not have a negative view. I think in general, most people have a favorable view of the U.S.

As for being able to be tolerant of different cultures. America is the one place in the world, where people are free to celebrate their cultures. They are not killed because they believe one way. They are not refused a church, mosque or temple. Holidays from around the world are celebrated here. We are truly an international and multicultural country.

Help the other side by referring to it as a Holy War? Excuse me, but that is exactly the name they have given it.

I don't think you found anywhere in my passage where I referred to the United States of Christians. Yes, you are a true Democrat, for you are very good at calling me names, "ignorant", "learning in a narrow hallway", "idiot", your leadership does this as well.

As far as helping? OUr Country does more for our people and ALL people's of the world than any other Country. We have been the most giving country in the world.

Anyway, if you notice, I haven't called you any names because you disagree with me. I haven't even deleted your comments, which I have the ability to do.

The Wahabi presence in the United States is a foreboding one that has potentially harmful and far-reaching consequences for our nation's mosques, schools, prisons and even our military. My fear is, if we don't wake up and take action now, those influenced by Wahabism's extremist ideology will harm us in as-of-yet unimaginable ways. – US Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY)
