Ahhh sweet Harriet, the pit bull in size 6 shoes, has everyone guessing. Trust Bush? We trusted him for Iraq........., He promised a conservative like Clarence Thomas......What is her background....
Let's see what the hearings bring out. I did hear today that Bush had approached other female nominees for the position, but they turned him down.
I'll give her a chance, but she better appear deserving of this honored position. There are too many people who have worked hard, put their opinions on the line, took risks, who deserved and worked for this kind of appointment.
REBUTTING WHITE HOUSE SPIN - II
“Republicans also say they were angered by some of the White House ‘spin,’ such as the argument that Miss Miers is similar to conservative icon and former Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist because neither had previous experience as a judge. ‘That's just grossly offensive,’ said an aide. Staffers also said many of them chuckled over a biographical ‘pocket card’ of talking points about Miss Miers that the White House distributed for use by any senator wishing to praise the nominee. ‘They had to double-space it,’ said one aide, laughing.”

sf bert and mooser - I'm with you two completely.
I am going with I will trust Bush but at the same time, I will wait and see what comes at the hearings before I make up my mind.
There are just too many things that Bush has done that I don't agree with; spending, borders, and not fighting this war on terrorism with the 21st century know how we have.
I still in spite of it all support Bush - as there was no one else who even came close to being able to handle what this man has had to handle.
I see three possibilities.
Three outcomes:
1. A filibuster or negative vote from Democrats opens the way for rule change via the nuclear option which is what the hardcore like myself want. They break the deal, look like obstructionists and justify the nuclear option.
2. A filibuster, negative vote or just loud bashing of the president from Republicans would win Democratic votes for standing up to Bush. Rudy would be wise to make a stink as he IS running.
3. Do nothing and let her be confirmed thus creating a puppet that would allow Republican senators to rule through cronyism in our favor through her from the shadows. In effect, the party would be on the bench not Miers.
Bush can clearly afford a popularity hit on this for the sake of the party and so far the loudest has been from the right on this. I can not say if this plan was crafted or if by divine grace he blundered into a scenario that wins all the way around for the party but believe me when I say that no matter what, we win.
well put

That seems a bit ridiculous. There was, after all, FDR, who had to deal with a war in Europe and in the Pacific. Then there was Kennedy, who had to deal with the Cuban Missle Crisis and negotiate armageddon. Bush and his administration are largely responsible for their own mess. The knew they were going to war, (on fake intel, no less) and so should have been able to consider the aftermath. Everyone in Europe new that going in without the UN to negotiate through the chaotic aftermath was a fools errand for the U.S., yet they still blindly went in without enough troops or with an exit stratagy.
For those of you who aren''t billionaires, the Republican party has nothing to offer you. Do you really think they care about your religious convictions? Seems strange for christians to have so much money tied up in the manufacture and sale of weapons and ammunition, doesn't it. Face it, you are sheep being used by the elite and wealthy to further line their own pockets and those of their friends. If you can't see that humble, obvious truth, then you'll likely never see anything clearly. You'll look back one day and shake your heads, wondering how you could have been so foolishly misled. The answer to that is: you were unable to stand up for yourselves, and needed the shelter of group-think to validate your thinly veiled beliefs. I pity all of you. You don't know what hell is.
LOL anonymous.......
I was talking about Kerry; then Gore........the other choices to Bush......
LOL
For those of you who aren't billionaires?
Most of the billionaires vote Democratic.........The hardworkers of the country vote Republican..there is a big difference friend between the liberal billionaires and the hardworking upperclass.

Oops. let me stop you there. It was that tinkerhead that started the crisis. He sent men to cuba to take out Castro but once the men hit the shoreline...KENNEDY GETS COLD FEET AND CHANGES HIS MIND!!! Those men were left to be killed or captured! If kennedy wasn't such a wuss around the commies then we would NEVER have gone to the brink in the first place. Fortunately he grew a set toward the end.

Oh....Are we talking UN now? The same UN that would not back THEIR OWN resolutions? The same UN that swindled countles trillions in relief money? The same UN that was dealing behind close doors WITH Saddam? That UN?

BLAH BLAH BLAH.... more hate against Christian and the rich who "GOD FORBID" actually work for a living. Maybe if you work a little harder and run your mouth a little less the you can be one of those rich people you are so jealous of. As for hell......I am sure it will have a few liberals in it.
You guys are all idiots in here. One sided arguments are all that I read. It's no wonder this country is in such bad shape. Rev. is hoping for a mole on the Supreme Court to do the right's bidding, and Maddie thinks it's a great idea. What has this country come to?
